Should You File a Lawsuit When Your Hip Replacement System is Recalled?
The Johnson & Johnson family of companies have had four major product recalls so far this year, which has led some financial analysts to question as to whether there might be a systemic problem within the corporate giant. The recalls started with Children’s Tylenol and then spread to Accuvue contact lenses in Europe and Asia, then they announced the DePuy hip recall in August, which was followed by yet another Children’s Tylenol recall. These are serious product recalls, the recall of a hip replacement system is far worse than the other recalls and could ruin the lives of many older people whose health may be to poor to go through another hip replacement surgery and the lengthy recovery and rehabilitation process. Johnson & Johnson is a major player in the American healthcare industry, if these recalls mean that there are major problems with Johnson & Johnson’s quality control, people should be very worried.
But persons with the recalled hip really should consider filing a DePuy hip recall lawsuit because of the potential for long term health problems. There have been reports of metallic debris such as chromium and cobalt leaking into the body from the debris. No one really knows what the long term consequences of this will be yet and signing a settlement with the company could waive claims against health problems that arise in the future from these metals entering the bloodstream.
